Results of the May 10th city council elections for McKinney Texas

The May 10th, 2008 Elections for the City of McKinney in voting for city council positions is most revealing in the numbers. Basically 262 votes separated Huff and Tucker-David, which will bring forth a run-off. The total votes cased was six percent
of the total registered voters for our city. This is a demonstration of “Apathy” in our community of the greatest degree. The “Apathy” was carried forward to two of the seats having individuals run unopposed. McKinney, Texas hang your head in total shame.
The question is, “Why is a community, with such a high percentage of college grads, and a high media income, do so poorly in registered voters actually voting in such an important election for the taxpayers of McKinney, Texas?” Do we as a community need to consider “paying our registered voters to actually vote?” The time has come to give serious thought to changing our voting system entirely in order to change this situation (reference posting on this site, titled, “But it always has been done that way.”)
